CREATING BEAUTIFUL SPACES

We recently collaborated with the Cordony Group on a fabulous property in St Ives being styled for sale. Cordony head stylist Sophie chose a truck load (or two) of stunning CAFE LIGHTING & LIVING furniture, lighting and homewares to embellish this new build with heart and soul, offering potential buyers the opportunity to easily envisage living in the homes generous spaces.

Cordony social guru Ashleigh kindly allowed us to go 'behind the scenes' and see how the magic happens (and what was to become of our precious babies) …

From the CAFE LIGHTING & LIVING warehouse pickup to final pillow chopping and fresh floral tweaking, it was clear that the team at Cordony execute with the precision of a stealth ninja, meticulously orchestrating the total transformation of this substantial 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom property in less than 5 hours.

Ok, ok, we all know it takes a village (and months of planning) to pull this off, and our girl Estelle and trusty wingman Christoper were grateful to observe and document this 20 person operation.  In fact the joy of experiencing the total transformation of such beautiful spaces curated from CAFE LIGHTING & LIVING pieces left Estelle in a spin (think Maria Von-trapp-esk enthusiasm). Really

We caught up with senior stylist Ashleigh on the why’s and how’s of delivering property styling for a successful sale campaign.

Q: Ashleigh, would you say there is a science to property styling? 

There is definitely a science to Property Styling, we are effectively designing a space to evoke someone’s emotions. The colours used, shapes, and positioning of furniture may influence a potential buyer’s feelings towards the property. For example, if you have a huge dining table in a tiny space, people will feel overwhelmed. We call it an ‘art-form’, it takes time and thought to get each property right.

Q: And what are your insider tips to consider when styling a property to sell? 

Each project is different, a mission of one style fits all, just won’t cut it in the market right now. Essentially, I take my cues from the property location and architecture. We like to give our properties a fresh look. We want the buyer to connect with the property and imagine themselves living there. Our style brings them a sense of comfort and soul. We have found that using too many contemporary pieces can leave a property feeling cold, so we found the secret recipe is to find the perfect balance of high end contemporary and classic pieces.

Q: You’ve been in the industry for a while now… what advice would you have for someone who is just starting out?

To trust your own creative instinct and industry knowledge. We understand the emotional rollercoaster that comes with selling your home. It can be challenging when a client may not like a particular style that we have placed in their property, however we remind our clients that our role is to create a home for their target market, ultimately giving them the best outcome throughout their marketing campaign.

Q: What would you say are your main considerations when deciding how to style different properties?

When we are in the process of selecting for un upcoming property, we examine the home’s features and characteristics. This may be the detailing of the cornice, details in the sconces or even the colours of the exterior. We are responsible for customising each property to reflect its personality.

Q: Would you say that is the best part of your job?

It's rewarding to see our efforts and creativity displayed in high-end properties, and then on highly rated platforms like Million Dollar Listings. Creating unique combinations with curated pieces contributes to the overall success and impact of our styling.
